"Souvenir jackets” were originally created by American G.I.’s on assignment in Japan. To commemorate their time living abroad, they commissioned local kimono tailors to create American-style baseball jackets. As the tailors worked with silk fabrics and rich embroidery techniques, they applied these to the American soldiers’ jackets, instantly fusing Eastern and Western fashion traditions. This jacket is a tribute to Japan’s contribution to denim and fashion in general.
